A quality colour change wrap that has been fitted properly and looked after will usually hold up for around five to seven years in Melbourne conditions, and yes, it comes off. That reversibility is the whole point for a lot of owners. The factory paint sits underneath untouched, so the car can go back to its original colour when you sell it or hand back a lease, and the paint under the film is often in better shape than the panels that were exposed. What decides whether a wrap lasts that long is almost never the vinyl. It is whether the panels were properly decontaminated first, whether the film was wrapped into the door shuts and around the handles rather than trimmed flush at the edge, and whether the edges were given time to settle before the car went back out. A wrap cut at the edge will start lifting within months no matter what it cost. Roofs and bonnets take the most sun and will always fade first, which is worth knowing before you choose a colour.
